Jonathan Hollister, MD, CMD Medical Director, Memorial Gables

It is an honor to work with the team at Memorial Gables to improve the quality of life of the seniors entrusted to our care. As a Certified Medical Director by the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, I have advanced training in geriatrics and have been working in this specialty for over 12 years. Together I work with the Memorial Gables staff to provide comprehensive care for our residents to ensure everyone feels our devotion to their health and wellness.

Sonjia Allonas - Activities

What is your favorite event at the Gables and why?

My favorite event is the Christmas party for our residents and their families because it is so heartwarming to see the joy on our resident’s faces.

Why do you love your position at the Gables?

I love being the Activity Director because I love the friendships that I have built with our residents and I love helping to make Memorial Gables their home away from home.

Tami Bowman - Guest Services

What is your favorite event at the Gables and why?

Our annual Thanksgiving event is absolutely outstanding! From the chef going ‘all out’ to prepare our biggest, best meal of the year – to seeing the resident’s faces light up as they are surrounded by their loved ones…it is so heartwarming to have everyone together. I have to mention my second favorite event, too. Golf cart rides! Every summer, with the help of Timberview Golf Club, Rausch Family Landscaping, and the Marysville Police Department, we are treated to an afternoon of amusement. Employees line up to drive, residents line up to ride. With a shiny, police-car escort, we ride around in golf carts and tour our community of Green Pastures. Neighbors waving, flowers blooming, and children playing, these are the highlights! This is truly a delight for all of us.

What is the reason you come to work every day?

Guest Services, no day is normal – EVERY day is exciting! Growing up in Union County, I’ve always cherished making memories here in our ‘small town.’ Even with substantial growth, our county (and facility!) still celebrates that hometown feel, and that’s one of the reasons I love working here. When I see a former 4-H leader, local pastor, the gal from the grocery store, or a teacher from high school, it reminds me that it’s an honor to care for your loved ones, and a blessing to be among friends. The Gables truly is home.

What is the reason you come to work every day?

The residents are my number one reason I come to work every day. They are a part of my family and depend on each one of us every day.

Brandy Stover - Medical Records, HIPAA & Compliance

Why do you love your position at the Gables?

I have been with Memorial Health for almost 18 years – 15 of those years were spent working at Memorial Hospital, dealing with the acute care side of healthcare. When I transferred to Memorial Gables, I quickly learned the amazing care we provide at Memorial Gables as well! Working in long-term care, I have gained insight into what it truly means to make a difference in someone’s life; this is one of the biggest reasons I love my job at Memorial Gables (another perk is the daily hugs I receive from our residents)! Working at Memorial Gables, I have learned that each and every day you have the opportunity to either touch the life of someone or they will touch your life. Either way, that in itself is amazing and rewarding – it is just one of the many reasons I love my position at Memorial Gables.

What is your favorite part of being a member of the Gables team?

Anyone who knows me would agree that I wear my smile as part of my daily uniform. With that said, my favorite part of being a team member of the Gables team is bringing a smile to the faces of the residents we serve. Working at the Gables, I have come to learn it is the littlest things that we do – such as taking time to listen, giving a warm hug, bringing a resident a book to read – it is through these small gestures that we make the biggest impact!

Tabbi Thompson - Billing and Insurance

Why do you love your position at the Gables?

I love my position at Memorial Gables because I have met some of the most wonderful people. The friendships I have made with residents, families, and co-workers are priceless. I love the fact that we can make families feel comfortable and happy at the hardest time in their life when they have to make the decision to have a mother, father, or other family member placed in a home other than their own.

What is the reason you come to work every day?

The reason I come to work every day is to make Memorial Gables a place where patients want to get better to return to their home, residents a place where they love to live, and families are happy their loved one lives in a place where they are safe and are receiving quality healthcare. What makes it all worthwhile is the smile on the resident’s face and the smile they put on mine.
