CEO Selected for State-wide Award

American Hospital Association names Chip Hubbs as Grassroots Champion

Today the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) announced that Memorial Health President and CEO Chip Hubbs will receive the 2016 Grassroots Champion Award from the American Hospital Association (AHA).

This award recognizes one hospital leader from each state who effectively educates elected officials about major issues affecting hospitals, has done an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for hospitals, and is a tireless advocate for hospitals and their patients. OHA announced the recipients of OHA and AHA annual healthcare leadership awards in recognition of National Hospital Week (May 8-14). Hubbs will receive the Grassroots Champion Award at OHA’s Annual Meeting Advocacy Luncheon in Columbus on June 13.

Hubbs is very active on a local, state, and national level. He recently completed a term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Hospital Association, and will complete a three-year term as an alternate delegate for a regional policy board of the American Hospital Association in 2017.

Recognitions and awards he has received are: inclusion in the Becker’s Hospital Review list of nonprofit hospital and health system CEOs to Know (2014); a C-Suite Award from Columbus Business First for leadership, business, and civic contributions made to the community (2014); inclusion in Columbus Business First’s Forty Under Forty (2005); and Modern Healthcare Magazine’s Up and Comer Award (2002).

Locally, he serves as Vice President on the Fairbanks Local Schools’ Board of Education, represents the board on the school system’s Finance Committee, and as liaison to the Athletic Department.
