Memorial Receives “Healthiest Employer” Award
Competition Included Businesses and Organizations Throughout Central Ohio
For the fourth year in a row, Memorial Health (Memorial Hospital and Memorial Gables) was named one of Central Ohio’s “Healthiest Employers” by Columbus Business First at its annual awards ceremony today in Columbus. Memorial Health’s Wellness Team and administration leadership proudly accepted the second place award in the category of medium-sized businesses.
“Our Wellness Team has worked hard for the past 18 years to develop a wellness plan that encourages employees to live a healthy lifestyle and reap the benefits associated with good health,” says Deb Stubbs, Director of the Wellness Center at Memorial Hospital. ”Last year we took our program to the next level with our CEO Fitbit® challenge that linked technology to exercise in a fun, interactive way.”
Memorial’s Working on Wellness (WOW) program for employees includes free memberships to exercise in the hospital’s Wellness Center, personal training, health coaching, and educational classes. Additional health “perks” include free annual blood work and flu shots, a wide variety of healthy menu items in the hospital’s café, and a seasonal on-site farmer’s market.
“Our employees are our most important asset,” explains Chip Hubbs, President and CEO of Memorial Health. “We want our employees to benefit from the mission of Memorial Health – to promote wellness and to improve the health of all people in our community.”
The evaluation for recognition involved completion of a survey developed by a private panel of medical, academic, business, wellness, finance, and statistics professionals that uses a proprietary algorithm that ranks an organization based on individual responses in comparison to the survey set.
