    Wound Care Receives National Awards

    During its first year of operation, Memorial Wound Care, had such stellar patient satisfaction and healing outcomes that it has been recognized with two national awards for clinical excellence by Healogics, Memorial’s partner to provide highly specialized treatment for chronic wounds. Daren McCord, Program Director for Memorial Wound Care, accepted the awards on February 16 at the annual Healogics Leadership Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

    Fishman to Lead Clinical Informatics

    Jake Fishman, RN, BSN has been promoted to manage the new Clinical Informatics department at Memorial Health, to facilitate in the understanding and use of technology related to electronic patient records. The creation of the Clinical Informatics department will enable Fishman to continue work from his previous position as a Clinical Applications Analyst. Two other staff have joined him in the new department.

This honor is awarded to one healthcare employee in Ohio who personifies leadership, reflects the mission and values of his or her organization, routinely performs work in an exemplary manner, and gives back to the community.

    Medical Staff Scholarship Available

    Graduating high school seniors who reside in Union County with plans study in accredited health-related majors or program, with intentions to enter the medical field (such as medicine, nursing, physical therapy, or biological sciences), are encouraged to apply for a Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarships are administered by the Union County Foundation.

    Patients with kidney disease, hypertension, and other related issues are seeing two more physicians who have joined the Memorial Hospital medical staff team. Tameem S. Kaka, MD and Christopher Valentine, MD evaluate and treat outpatients, provide consults on hospitalized patients, and assist on call as needed.
