The Scotts Company Steps Up With Lead Gift to Memorial Hospital Of Union County's Women's Health Center

The Scotts Company Steps Up With Lead Gift to Memorial Hospital of Union County's Women's Health Center The Scotts Company has stepped forward with a lead gift toward construction of the Memorial Hospital of Union County's Women's Health Center. The Marysville, Ohio based company has pledged $500,000 toward the $5.5 million project scheduled for completion in 2004.

"We're proud to support Memorial Hospital in expanding their women's services," said Jim Hagedorn, chairman and chief executive officer of The Scotts Company. "And we're proud to give back to our communities - to make a difference in people's lives. I can think of no better way to do that than taking the lead in supporting Memorial Hospital in this important initiative."

"The Scotts Company has been very supportive of Memorial Hospital for years," says Nancy Conklin, Director of Development, Marketing and Public Relations. "As residents of the same larger community, they have continued to understand our need to expand with the community's growth and they have stepped up to the plate to help where they can." In fact, Scotts' contributions to the independent community hospital have topped $600,000 since 1998.

Led by Karlsberger Architects and Corna/Kokosing Construction Company, construction of the 25,000 square foot addition to the 92-bed hospital has already begun.

"As Union County continues to attract new residents and remains the third-fastest growing county in the state, demand for our services has increased in all departments and across all ages," reports Memorial's Interim CEO and President, Laurie Whittington. "The Women's Health Center is definite progress in meeting that demand. It will allow our first-rate team of caregivers to continue to serve our patients in an environment suited to the family care we are known for."

In addition to Scotts' lead gift, Memorial Hospital has received financial commitments from Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. and their own Auxiliary.
