We care about our nurses and they care about each other, too. So much so, they team up and collaborate on multidisciplinary teams, working on ideas and solutions together, with a united voice.

Based on a shared governance infrastructure, our Nursing Care Committee combines nurses and administration together to share decisional responsibility related to the professional practice of nursing.

The three cross-specialty teams focus on:

• Professional development, education, and strengthening nurse engagement
• Streamlining processes, communication, and workflow between units and staff members
• Recognizing the collective impact that nurses contribute to patient care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.

We are invested in our nursing team and want to collaborate with you on your professional journey! In fact, we offer a Clinical Ladder for your development! This structured system provides nurses with career advancement and appropriate compensation, while remaining in your current clinical setting and providing direct patient care.

Objectives of our Clinical Ladder:

• Promote excellence in clinical nursing practice
• Encourage career advancement
• Enhance patient satisfaction and job satisfaction for RNs
• Improve retention and recruitment of professional nurses
• Provide role development and mentorship opportunities

Did you know? Research has shown Nurse Residency Programs have a tremendous impact on staff satisfaction and job readiness. Our Nurse Residency Program at Memorial Hospital is designed to help graduate nurses grow from an advanced beginner to a competent provider!

Participants will gain precepted experience on a nursing unit, in addition to onboarding support and direction from a dedicated nurse educator during the 12-month program – offered as a spring and summer cohort.

Our program is designed to support new graduate nurses like you, during your transition to practice, while emphasizing your development of critical thinking skills to ensure safe and high-quality patient care.

Our Memorial Hospital Nurse Residency Program can further your career by providing you:

Onboarding support and direction from a dedicated nurse educator

• Precepted experience on a nursing unit
• 18 robust education seminars over 12 months
• Use of high-fidelity simulation to enhance real-life scenarios
• Professional development activities
• Resiliency training
• Formal training in evidence-based practice

Upon completion of the program, nurse residents will demonstrate an increase in knowledge, comprehension, and skills necessary for safe practice.

You will also gain confidence and competence, allowing you to perform as a productive member of a healthcare team.

Graduate nurses are eligible if you meet the following requirements:

• Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an associate or bachelor degree in Nursing, or a diploma in Nursing
• 0-12 months of nursing experience
