Memorial Health has nominated Erin Robinson Leibold, BSN, RN, and Director of Inpatient Nursing Services, as their nominee for the 2025 Ohio Hospital Association’s (OHA) Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to one Ohio healthcare employee who personifies leadership, reflects the mission and values of his or her organization, routinely performs work in an exemplary manner, and gives back to the community.
Local native Robinson Leibold has served in the role of Director of Inpatient Nursing Services since 2022. She is responsible for the overall operation of the medical/surgical, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and step-down units, with a focus on monitoring and evaluating the ongoing quality and level of patient care.
Since taking the lead of inpatient nursing, Robinson Leibold has had a tremendous impact upon the organization:
- She championed a stabilization of nurse: patient ratios during the post-pandemic timeline when nurses across the state were battling exhaustion/defeat, allowing Memorial nurses to begin to rebuild morale, feel a renewed sense of protection and understanding, thereby setting the stage for a revitalization of Memorial’s core nursing team.
- Robinson Leibold led by example and refocused her staff on patient care, achieving five-stars for Nursing Communication, Quietness of Hospital, and Willingness to Recommend in the most recent data. Since 2023, the unit ranked among the top 10% in national hospital ratings.
- Under her leadership, the nursing team’s average Press Ganey score has improved, demonstrating higher ratings from patients.
Robinson Leibold first came to Memorial back in 2003 as a Patient Care Technician II within the hospital’s ICU and Obstetrics units. After completing her fellowship in Critical Care, she returned to Memorial in 2006 as an ICU floor nurse and rounding nurse for the inpatient hospitalist team. She later served as Director of Clinical Education. During the Covid pandemic, she recognized the need for more nurses at the bedside, so she assumed the role of Night House Supervisor, before her current appointment as Director of Inpatient Nursing Services.
Speaking on the nomination, Ashley Boyer, MHA, BSN, RN, and Chief Nursing Officer for Memorial Health, shares, “Erin is a model of the aspirational culture that values caring both for and about the people we serve. She finds the perfect balance in meeting the practical and personal needs of others, and her work is a harmony of technical proficiency and authentic love for people. In fact, she has set the same high standard of clinical and operational excellence for her team – in 2023, the Inpatient Nursing Team won Memorial’s coveted Operational Excellence Award! Erin has had a tremendous impact on Memorial Health, and it brings us great pride to nominate her for this statewide recognition.”
