Medical Staff Department of Surgery Chair
As a general surgeon, Dr. Barker specializes in colon and rectal surgery, gallbladder removal, appendectomies, hernia repair, and thyroid surgery, in addition to improving the quality of life for patients with anorectal disorders. Using advanced treatment approaches and minimally invasive techniques, patients will receive the best care unique to their needs.
Dr. Barker has been practicing general surgery in Central Ohio for over 10 years. He is board-certified in general surgery and colorectal surgery. He currently serves as Surgery Chair for the Medical Staff of Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Barker believes that the patient-physician relationship is the most important aspect of healthcare. “My patients are the cornerstone of the treatment team,” he explains. “It is my goal to treat every patient as if I were treating a family member with an emphasis on communication, empathy, clarity, and understanding.”
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Barker enjoys spending time with his wife and their family. He is also an avid golfer, and enjoys going to the movies and reading books.
