A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Shaffer always loved science. After graduating from The University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science (double major in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology), he then came to Central Ohio to attend medical school at The Ohio State University.
After completing medical school and his residency here, Dr. Shaffer decided to remain in Ohio to work for a family practice in Circleville. There he became familiar with working in rural healthcare, where he enjoyed meeting and treating a variety of patients.
He came to work at Memorial because he admires the organization’s emphasis on compassionate care, courtesy, and support – as well as its commitment to medical excellence.
His professional interests include treating patients with diabetes, hypertension, and providing contraceptive counseling.
In his free time, Dr. Shaffer enjoys spending time with his wife and their three young children. His favorite hobbies include exercising, billiards, traveling, and exploring American history.
