Memorial Health, the premier provider of healthcare in the vastly expanding region of Marysville and Union County, will acquire the iconic Dave’s Pharmacy in Marysville, the Memorial Health Board of Trustees has announced.
The purchase unites two long-standing local healthcare institutions and ensures that Dave’s, which has served area residents since 1997, remains locally owned and operated. Memorial will take over ownership of the pharmacy later this summer and will retain both the current name and location.
Commenting on the sale, Chip Hubbs, CEO and President of Memorial Health shares, “Our acquisition of Dave’s Pharmacy will support the continuation of a locally-owned pharmacy that serves our entire community and region, with a mission to fulfill the needs of our patients as they progress on their health and wellness journey. Memorial is an independent health system and Dave’s has always been, and will remain, an independent pharmacy. We are honored to embrace the responsibility of continuing the tradition of quality, community-based pharmacy services.”
Memorial Hospital, in step with the health system’s 35 outpatient locations throughout the region, relies on its relationship with pharmaceutical outlets like Dave’s Pharmacy for extended patient care after hospital stays, post-procedures/surgeries, in addition to acute and chronic prescription needs.
Additionally, Memorial currently partners with Dave’s Pharmacy for its Meds-to-Beds program, a bedside delivery of prescription medications. Patients can sign-up for the program, work with Memorial pharmacists to review current and newly prescribed medications, and then have the new medications delivered to the hospital bedside before they are discharged. This convenient and timely prescription program is delivered at no extra cost to the patient.
Under Memorial’s ownership, Dave’s Pharmacy will continue to offer in-store prescription fills, medication reviews, durable medical equipment, health screenings, diabetes consultations, and immunizations.
The pharmacy will remain open at its current location. Customers do not have to take any action and can seamlessly fill and refill their prescriptions as they have for years.
Hubbs concludes, “The Senior Leadership of Memorial Health is confident this move will benefit our organization, our patients, and our community. We are committed to delivering personalized, local care well into the future and to protecting access to community pharmacy services.”
