Our Expert Team

Chris Karas, MD, ABNS, a highly regarded neurosurgeon with more than 15 years of experience, has now joined the Memorial Orthopedics team. Dr. Karas specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and provides care for the full spectrum of spinal conditions.
He has extensive experience – previously serving as a neurosurgeon at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Spine Health, Chief of Neurosurgery at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, and Medical Director of Neurosurgery at Mercy Brain and Spine Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Certified nurse practitioner Stephanie Burkart has also joined Dr. Karas in providing spine care. Stephanie has 15 years of experience across the spine and pain fields. Together, they are ready to care for you.

This investment supported the purchase of imaging and surgical navigation systems, a specialized operating table, and specific operating room instruments for spine surgeries. These technological and equipment advancements strengthen our ability to perform extremely precise neurosurgical procedures and provide advanced spine treatments for a wide range of spinal conditions.
Together, our spine care team can provide a range of treatment options, including both non-surgical and surgical interventions, for a plethora of spinal conditions, including:
