What is your favorite event at the Gables and why?
Our annual Thanksgiving event is absolutely outstanding! From the chef going ‘all out’ to prepare our biggest, best meal of the year – to seeing the resident’s faces light up as they are surrounded by their loved ones…it is so heartwarming to have everyone together. I have to mention my second favorite event, too. Golf cart rides! Every summer, with the help of Timberview Golf Club, Rausch Family Landscaping, and the Marysville Police Department, we are treated to an afternoon of amusement. Employees line up to drive, residents line up to ride. With a shiny, police-car escort, we ride around in golf carts and tour our community of Green Pastures. Neighbors waving, flowers blooming, and children playing, these are the highlights! This is truly a delight for all of us.

What is the reason you come to work every day?
Guest Services, no day is normal – EVERY day is exciting! Growing up in Union County, I’ve always cherished making memories here in our ‘small town.’ Even with substantial growth, our county (and facility!) still celebrates that hometown feel, and that’s one of the reasons I love working here. When I see a former 4-H leader, local pastor, the gal from the grocery store, or a teacher from high school, it reminds me that it’s an honor to care for your loved ones, and a blessing to be among friends. The Gables truly is home.
