Emily Wieringa

Chairperson

In 2018, the Memorial Health Board of Trustees was joined by new trustee Emily Wieringa. As a life-long learner, Emily desires to both serve her community and learn the ins-and-outs of the healthcare business model.

Emily currently works for VanTrust Real Estate as Development Services Director, bringing with her over 20 years of experience working in commercial construction. In this role, Emily works with the development team to plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee a myriad of construction projects.

Emily previously served as the Vice President of Planning and Facilities at The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Powell, where she had oversight of master planning, capital construction projects, and facility infrastructure operations for The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Zoombezi Bay, and Safari Golf Course.

Emily received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is a Licensed Professional Engineer with the State of Ohio. Emily has been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) since 1997 and actively serves in several capacities as a member of the ASCE Central Ohio branch. Her passion for engineering and science inspires Emily to share her career path and story with students. As such she serves as a mentor for engineering students at The Ohio State University, and has sat on panels at Purdue University for incoming students interested in engineering.

She also is serving as a mentor for the Le Heron Rising Leader program, along with volunteering at the Journey Community Church in Plain City, and her children’s schools.

Emily resides in Dublin with her husband, Steve, and their two daughters. In her spare time, Emily enjoys time with family, running, tennis and traveling.
