Memorial Meals
Part of successfully maintaining an independent lifestyle in your senior years is to be able to count on caring people to provide services you can no longer take care of. And that’s where our Memorial Mobile and Community Meals come in!
Mobile Meals
Our Memorial Mobile Meals service provides nutritious lunches every weekday to people in their homes throughout Union County. Meal recipients are encouraged to donate whatever they can afford toward the cost of the program.
Requirements for participation:
- Resident of Union County
- Over the age of 60, or the spouse of someone over age 60
- Unable to travel to Memorial Community Meals sites in Marysville, Plain City, or Richwood
- Unable to prepare own meals and lack other meals support services
- Be the spouse of an eligible participant
Memorial Mobile Meals are planned by a registered dietitian and prepared in the kitchen at Memorial Hospital. Each meal is delivered in a thermal container so it’s just the right temperature when it’s delivered to your home by one of our friendly volunteers.
A Supplemental Meals program that offers the same services as Mobile Meals is available to people under the age of 60 with a physician referral.
When you first enroll, you will be visited by a Memorial Meals health care professional, who will do a health assessment to ensure that your nutritional needs are being met through the program and may refer you to other services, if recommended.
Community Meals
For those age 60 and over, it’s not always feasible, or even possible, to prepare your own meals. So, Memorial Hospital provides a place to enjoy a hot, nutritious lunch among friends. The Community Meals program features regular and reduced-calorie meals prepared daily. Each meal is planned by a registered dietitian and is cooked without added salt.
Our staff prepares and serves lunches on weekdays for seniors at locations in Marysville, Richwood, and Plain City. You must be over the age of 60, or the spouse of someone over the age of 60, and will need to make a reservation by 9:30am on each day you plan to attend. Guests are welcomed at a cost of $5.50 per person, or $3.50 for children under age ten.
