October 6, 2026 – During a recent board meeting, the Memorial Health Board of Trustees approved the acquisition of a HYDROS® Robotic System by Procept BioRobotics®, a total investment of $375,000 later this year. The new system is the next-generation robotic platform that will upgrade Memorial’s current Aquablation system purchased in 2024, aiming to advance the organization’s technology base for minimally invasive surgical care across urological procedures.
“Memorial appreciates the forethought of our board to invest in technological advancements and enhancements like this,” shares Spence Fisher, President/CEO of Memorial Health. “Strategic investments in modern equipment are essential to maintaining clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability. By equipping our teams with the right technology, we strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional care and meet the evolving needs of our patients in the region.”
The HYDROS Robotic System is the platform for Aquablation therapy, an advanced, minimally invasive treatment for men suffering from Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate. As the prostate grows, it may constrict the urethra, making it difficult to urinate and/or apply pressure on the bladder, causing it to weaken and have difficulty emptying. Aquablation therapy delivers significant, lasting symptom relief to patients while preserving sexual function and continence in prostates of all shapes and sizes.
“Transforming to this new surgical option builds on our greater strategic vision of enhancing Memorial’s surgical department to further improve patient experience and clinical outcomes,” shares Michael Jordan, DO, physician at Memorial Urology and President of the Memorial Hospital Medical Staff. “The HYDROS Robotic System represents the next evolution in the delivery of Aquablation therapy. Leveraging insights from over 50,000 procedures, HYDROS features FirstAssist AI™ treatment planning, advanced image guidance, robotic resection, and a streamlined workflow. HYDROS is designed to improve efficiency, enhance surgeon and staff experience, and deliver a more accurate and consistent treatment plan for better clinical outcomes.”
BPH is an unfortunate reality of aging for millions of men and impacts urinary function, making it difficult to urinate and fully empty the bladder. Common indicators that a man may be experiencing BPH are the need to urinate immediately or urgently, urinating more often than normal, and urinating frequently at night. Without timely treatment, BPH can lead to severe health issues such as permanent bladder or kidney damage, bladder stones, and incontinence. One in two men ages 51-60 have BPH and 99 percent of men say BPH impacts their quality of life.
