June 12, 2026 – Memorial Hospital has recently received two prestigious national recognitions that reinforce their reputation for top-level care in Central Ohio.
“A” Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Memorial Hospital earned an “A” Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.
“Among Ohio’s 114 participating hospitals, Memorial stands proudly with only 30 others to earn this outstanding recognition – making us one of just two hospitals in Central Ohio to achieve the top grade. Additionally, this recognition follows an ‘A’ grade received in Fall 2025,” comments Chip Hubbs, CEO of Memorial Health. “Providing safe, high-quality care requires an organization-wide commitment. We’re incredibly proud of our entire Memorial Hospital staff for their unwavering dedication to patient safety and well-being – an effort that has earned us a prestigious ‘A’ grade for hospital safety twice in succession.”
“An ‘A’ grade is a strong sign that Memorial Hospital is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
Top Hospitals for Nurse Communication List by Becker’s Hospital Review
Additionally, Memorial Hospital was named among 567 hospitals nationwide as a “Top Hospital for Nurse Communication” by Becker’s Hospital Review. Hospitals named to this list received five-star ratings for nurse communication according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey data.
Memorial proudly joins 33 other Ohio hospitals on the list and is one of just five Central Ohio hospitals recognized. This recognition reflects the health system’s commitment to patient-focused care.
Memorial Hospital’s five-star rating signifies that patients’ feel that their nursing staff excels at:
- Explaining things clearly
- Listening carefully
- Treating patients with courtesy and respect
