Jeff Hazey, MD

Chief Medical Officer


Dr. Hazey was appointed to the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in March 2024, bringing with him significant clinical physician leadership.

Dr. Hazey joined Memorial General & Colorectal Surgery in 2017 as a highly respected general surgeon. He served as President of the Medical Staff at Memorial Hospital, after previously serving on the Medical Executive Committee as Department of Surgery Chair. He also has experience serving Memorial on internal committees related to utilization review, peer review, anesthesia/perioperative services, and others.

Prior to joining the Memorial team, Dr. Hazey was the Chief of the Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at The Ohio State University. While there, he was selected to complete a leadership development program for physicians at Harvard University.

Dr. Hazey holds an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Miami (OH) University and attended Medical School at Case Western Reserve University. After an internship and residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, he went on to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

In his free time, Dr. Hazey enjoys relaxing with his family. He also likes to read, travel, and enjoy the outdoors especially when it is a good day for a round of golf.
