Supportive Care
Providing medical care and support for patients in aggressive medical treatment.
If you are seeking aggressive symptom control and are in current aggressive treatment for conditions such as cancer, heart failure, and COPD, you may want to visit the Supportive Care Clinic, under the direction of Kevin Henzel, MD, of Memorial Internal Medicine in Marysville. Dr. Henzel is board-certified in the subspecialty of Palliative Care, which is for patients of all ages who are not in hospice care and have not received a terminal diagnosis.
Supportive Care is designed to improve the quality of life for the patient and family, by providing relief for symptoms including pain, nausea, shortness of breath, anxiety, weight loss, and severe itching.
Studies have shown that Supportive Care can provide a higher quality of life for the patient and reduce depression, prolong the life span of the patient, and lower the overall costs of medical care.
