Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Who is PRP right for?

This new therapy, not available at all local hospitals, has a multitude of uses. PRP essentially extracts restorative factors from the body and reintroduces them to promote healing.

A referral from your doctor is recommended for the PRP Therapy services.

The process of PRP Therapy begins with a simple blood draw. The clinician will then prepare the blood in a centrifuge, separating the platelet-rich plasma from the whole blood cells. Once the blood is divided, the concentration of platelets are injected into the area of the body to be treated.

The goal behind PRP Therapy is to increase the platelet count in a wounded or damaged area, to accelerate the body’s own healing process and facilitate cell rejuvenation. Those who suffer with tendinitis injuries, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, ligament instability or arthritis of the knee and hip could benefit from PRP Therapy.
