Surgery

If you are in need of surgery, our highly skilled team of surgeons provide the best of care. Many procedures are done on an outpatient basis, allowing you to return home the same day. Others require one or more night’s stay in Memorial Hospital’s Medical/Surgical Care unit, where your recovery will be monitored.

Specific instructions on eating, drinking, or taking medications vary by procedure. Please check with your doctor to find out what preparations are needed for your surgery. If you or your family members have any questions before your surgery, please call (937) 578-2347.

Memorial Health also provides pre-admission testing (PAT) for patients prior to surgery. If PAT is required for your procedure, these matters will be discussed more fully with you before your scheduled surgery. Our ultimate goal is patient safety and PAT is the best way to prepare our patients for positive surgical outcomes. PAT is inclusive of testing such as lab work, EKG, and pulmonary studies, if they are indicated after having a history and physical. This assures that as a surgical patient, you are “optimized” or in the best physical condition possible prior to surgery. This optimization can mean that a patient may need a referral to a specialist for clearance or further testing.
