Chip Hubbs became President/CEO of Memorial Health in March 2004. Prior to arriving in Marysville, Chip served for four years as CEO of Community Memorial Hospital in Defiance County, Ohio, just outside of Fort Wayne.
Before this, Chip’s management experience spanned various Senior Management positions at the Lutheran Health Network in Fort Wayne. He also worked as the Evening Administrator for the University of Chicago Hospitals. In all, Chip has worked for nine different hospitals throughout his career in every facet from groundskeeper and maintenance to intern, fellow, Evening Administrator, Executive Director, and CEO.
After graduating Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Master of Health Administration, Chip earned a fellowship at the Sinai Health System in Chicago.
He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and he has received several professional acknowledgments for his work, including receiving the Grassroots Champion Award from the American Hospital Association in 2016 for advocacy and leadership in the State of Ohio. He was listed by Becker’s Hospital Review of Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know in 2017, 2016, and 2014; as well as awarded the 2014 Columbus Business First’s C-Suite Award Honoree; 2013 Union County Business Leader of the Year; Columbus Business First’s “Forty Under 40” in September 2005; and Modern Healthcare Magazine’s Up and Comer Award in 2002.
Outside the hospital, Chip serves on the Union County Foundation Board of Trustees, where he chairs the Distribution Committee, and is a Board Member and past Board Chair of the Institute for Health Innovation of the Ohio Hospital Association. He is also a past delegate to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board (Region V), as well as past Board President for the Ohio Hospital Association, the Fairbanks Local School District Board of Education, the Union County Chamber of Commerce, and the Union County Family YMCA. Chip is married, has four children, and resides in Marysville.
Spence Fisher joined Memorial Hospital in September of 2004 and currently serves as Executive Vice President of Memorial Health as well as President of Memorial Medical Group, the system’s employed physician organization. Spence leads many of our ambulatory departments, including pharmacy, surgery, and physical therapy. He also organizes our efforts in business development to offer new services and expand existing services.
Spence has a Bachelor degree in Microbiology and Master of Health Administration degree, both from The Ohio State University. He has over 25 years of healthcare experience including positions at Ernst & Young, LLP and OhioHealth. In recognition of his leadership and civic contributions, Spence was selected as a Finalist for the Executive of the Year in Columbus CEO magazine’s 2018 Healthcare Achievement Awards.
He is currently a Board Member of the Union County Port Authority and has served on the boards of Healthcare Financial Management Association, Union County American Red Cross, Union County Chamber of Commerce, and the Community Improvement Corporation. Spence is married with two children.
Our Financial Officer Jeff Ehlers is named in the national list of “150 hospital and health system CFOs to know” by Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading source of cutting-edge business and legal information for healthcare industry leaders. Awardees were selected for leadership in financially successful healthcare organizations.
Jeff became controller at Memorial Hospital in 1997 and was appointed CFO in 1999. His responsibilities include overseeing accounting, admissions, hospital and professional billing, central scheduling, health information management, supply chain, risk, and reimbursement.
He graduated from The Ohio State University with a BSBA in Accounting, earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Urbana University, and graduated from the Union County Leadership Institute. He also has received his Certified Healthcare Finance Professional (CHFP) designation from the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Jeff is currently serving as a Board Member and Treasurer of Union County Neighbor to Neighbor.
Larry Schleeter joined the organization in 2013, and currently serves as Chief HR Officer. A seasoned veteran, he brings over 45 years of experience and has achieved many notable accomplishments during his career, including recognition from Columbus CEO Magazine as recipient of its 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award for HR Excellence. He was a finalist for this award in 2014, and also received a Super Star Award in Human Resources from Columbus CEO in 2008. He is responsible for over 1000 employees at Memorial Hospital, Memorial Gables, Memorial Medical Group, and Memorial KidzLink.
Larry holds his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from The University of Notre Dame. He completed graduate studies in Business Administration and Human Resources at Ball State University in Indiana. He has held leadership positions in Human Resources at Frederick Memorial Healthcare System, Grant Medical Center, Riverside Methodist Hospital, and the New Albany Surgical Hospital, along with other human resources leadership roles outside of healthcare in the central Ohio area.
Larry and his wife, Michelle, reside in Westerville. They have three children and seven grandchildren who they love to spend time with. An avid sports fan, Larry loves to golf when Ohio weather allows.
Melanie Ziegler was named Vice President of Community Engagement in 2017, after serving the organization in various roles within marketing, public relations, and development since 2001. Her responsibilities include continued oversight of these areas, in addition to patient experience, food and nutrition services, adult and student volunteer programs, and the hospital’s Wellness Center.
A native of New Hampshire, where her family owned a dairy farm, she has been a resident of Union County since 1995. A position in international marketing and communications at Select Sires, Inc. brought her to Central Ohio in 1993.
Melanie has a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences (Biology, Spanish, International Studies) from Virginia Tech and a Master of Business Administration degree from Urbana University.
An involved community member, Melanie serves as immediate past-president on the board of UCO Industries in Marysville, on the Impact60 board, on numerous committees within Fairbanks School District, and is a member of the Union County Agriculture Association.
Melanie and her husband, Jeff, live in Union County and are the parents of four sons.
Serving in the role of Memorial Health’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) is Andrew Chileski. Andy is responsible for all information technology and strategy for Memorial Hospital, Memorial Gables, all Memorial outpatient facilities, and our various primary care and specialist physician practices. Andy also has oversight of the areas of Imaging, Laboratory, and BioMed.
Prior to joining Memorial in 2018, Andy worked at Berger Health System in Circleville, Ohio where he led their IT initiatives for more than 19 years. Most recently, he held the positon of Berger’s CIO and Vice President of Support Services, where he was hailed for his technical skills as well as his business acumen and strategic focus.
An Army veteran, Andy holds his BS in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh and an MS in the same discipline from Century University.
Andy and his wife have two children.
Ashley Boyer, MHA, BSN, RN, is Chief Nursing Officer for Memorial Health. In this role, Ashley oversees the areas of Nursing Services, Emergency Department, Critical Care, Obstetrics, Clinical Education, Medical/Surgical, and Cardiovascular Lab, in addition to Memorial Gables.
Since joining the nursing staff at Memorial Hospital in 2010, Ashley Boyer has worked as Assistant Vice President of Nursing, Director of Medical/Surgical, Director of Memorial Gables, Director of Obstetrics, in addition to Minimum Data Set (MDS) Nurse.
Born and raised in Union County, Ashley received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Ohio University. Before coming to Memorial, she worked as a floor nurse and MDS Nurse at Heartland of Marion.
Ashley and her husband have three children. Ashley is active in the local community, serving on the Board of Trustees for the United Way of Union County, as well as a member of the Memorial Auxiliary Twig 10.
Beginning in November 2020, Dr. Russell took the reins as Chief Medical Officer for Memorial. In this role, he is instrumental in supporting the Medical Staff in continued pursuit of clinical excellence.
In addition to leading the Medical Staff, Dr. Russell oversees the areas of Quality, Compliance, Case Management, Home Health, Respiratory Therapy, and Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Russell most recently served as the Medical Director of Quality and Risk and Chair of the Memorial Medical Staff Department of Medicine. He led Memorial’s Emergency Department as the Medical Director for five years prior.
Dr. Russell completed medical school at Pikeville College/School of Osteopathic Medicine, an Emergency Medicine Residency at Doctors Hospital, and a Fellowship in Medical Toxicology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He is certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Russell and his wife, Sarah, have one son, Lucas.
